Things to do
Knysna is at the heart of the Garden Route and offers the perfect stopover between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Boat trips across the Lagoon and around the Heads offer a unique insight into this spectacular region and access to the Featherbed Nature Reserve on the western head. Knysna also has its own Waterfront, Knysna Quays, with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and delicatessens. World famous beaches like buffalo bay and brenton on sea is close by with great animal santuaries like birds of eden and the elephant park just outside of Knysna.
Activities galore
There is a wide variety of golf courses nearby – some of the best golfing on the continent - and Bradach will be happy to make bookings on your behalf
Around Knysna are many spectacular drives, the Swartberg Pass, the Seweweekspoort Pass and Meiringspoort, offering access to the dry interior of the Little Karoo. Oudtshoorn, an easy drive from Knysna, is the capital of the ostrich farming industry and the Cango Caves – a series of underground caverns - are nearby.
Knysna offers so much. Walks, horse-rides and mountain bikes in the Knysna Forest (where the rare Knysna elephant is still to be found), sunswept beaches, bungee-jumping, animal sanctuaries and, last, but not least, the Outeniqua Tjoe Choo – a spectacular steam-train journey through the Kaaimans River Gorge from Knysna to George.
Quote of the day
“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” ~ Samuel Johnson
